What you cannot send

The Uniform Electronic Transactions Act excludes a short list of records from electronic signature. They are not a policy choice on our side; an electronic signature on one of them is simply not valid.

• Wills, codicils and testamentary trusts.
• Adoption, divorce and other family-law papers.
• Court orders, notices and official court filings.
• Notices of default, foreclosure, eviction or repossession on a primary residence.
• Cancellation of utility service, health insurance or life insurance benefits.

Anything on that list has to be signed on paper. Everything else - agreements, leases, disclosures, vendor contracts, employment paperwork - is fair game.
